The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865, works to preserve history and promote patriotism. We do this by helping to preserve Civil War battlefields, historic sites and Union monuments, by assisting veterans, and by participating in ceremonies on national and local holidays. The Daughters also maintain a library and a free public Civil War Museum in Springfield, Illinois.

MEETINGS

Tent 88 currently meets five (5) times per year in the City of Santa Ana or online via Zoom.

MEMORIAL DAY PROGRAM, SANTA ANA CEMETERY

Santa Ana Cemetery's annual Tri-City Memorial Day commemoration is scheduled for May 27. The program features guest speakers, special musical performances, combined color guards with a parade of flags, a wreath presentation ceremony, cannon salutes and an honor guard rifle salute. Tent 88 members participate annually in this traditional Memorial Day commemoration.

WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA, SANTA ANA CEMETERY

Each December, on National Wreaths Across America Day, we honor an American hero at one of more than 1,600 locations nationwide. It's a day that's been set aside to lay wreaths at the places where we remember, honor and teach about our veterans in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad. Tent 88 participates in the ceremony at Santa Ana Cemetery. This year's event is scheduled for December 14.

TOILETRIES FOR VETERANS PROGRAM

The community of Potters Lane, located in Midway City, is a housing project that features 16 living units of 480 square feet each — 15 for homeless military veterans and one manager's unit — and includes on-site services such as group and individual counseling, medical care, veterans liaisons and employment programs. The living units are constructed from recycled shipping containers modified at an off-site plant, then assembled and finished on-site.

Throughout the year, Tent 88 collects and donates toiletries to the Potters Lane facility for local homeless US military veterans.
